Cookie Policy
The complete list, in a table, plus how to change your mind at any time.
This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar storage technologies used on moneyguidance.site, what each one is for, and exactly how to control or remove them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They let a site remember something
between page loads — for example that you already answered a consent prompt. Related technologies
include localStorage (which stores data in your browser until you clear it) and web beacons
(tiny invisible images used to count views). We use the first; advertising partners may use all three.
Cookies we set ourselves
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
consent-v2 | localStorage | Records whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies, so the banner is not shown again. | Until you clear site data |
That is the complete list. We run no analytics suite, no heatmaps, no session recording and no social media pixels.
Cookies set by Google AdSense
Advertising on this site is delivered by Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-3648126437220213). Google and
the ad technology providers it works with may set cookies on your device to:
- deliver an advertisement and record that it was displayed;
- limit how many times you see the same advertisement (frequency capping);
- detect and prevent click fraud and other invalid traffic;
- measure whether an advertisement led to a visit or an action on the advertiser's site;
- where you have consented, select advertisements based on a profile built from your browsing.
Typical examples include Google's IDE and test_cookie cookies on the
doubleclick.net domain, NID on google.com, and the
__gads / __gpi cookies. Google controls these, and the exact set changes over
time; the authoritative list is maintained by Google in its
advertising cookies documentation.
Historically this was known as the DoubleClick DART cookie.
How consent works here
We use Google Consent Mode v2. On your first visit, ad_storage, ad_user_data,
ad_personalization and analytics_storage are all set to denied
before any advertising code runs. Nothing non-essential is stored until you choose.
- Accept all — advertising cookies are permitted and ads may be personalised.
- Reject non-essential — consent signals stay denied and we additionally request non-personalised ads. You still see advertising, because that is what pays for the site, but it is chosen from the page content rather than from a profile of you.
To change your answer later, select Cookie & privacy settings in the footer of any page.
Controlling cookies in your browser
You can block or delete cookies regardless of what you chose here. Blocking all cookies will not stop ads appearing, but may stop this site remembering your consent choice.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Block all cookies / Manage Website Data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
- Mobile: the equivalent privacy section of your browser app's settings.
Industry opt-outs
- Google Ads Settings — turn off ad personalisation across Google products.
- Digital Advertising Alliance — opt out of many vendors at once.
- Network Advertising Initiative.
- YourAdChoices Canada and Your Online Choices (EU).
