Editorial Policy

How pages get made here, and why advertising does not influence them.

Advertising pays for this site, so it is fair to ask whether that changes what we publish. This page sets out how content on moneyguidance.site is produced, checked and corrected, and where the line between editorial and advertising sits.

Our principles

• Useful before long. A page exists to answer a specific question or perform a specific job. We do not pad pages to hit a word count.
• Show the working. Where a tool computes something, the page states the formula it uses and walks through a worked example, so you can reproduce the number by hand.
• Name the limits. Every model simplifies. We say what a calculator ignores rather than implying false precision.
• No fabricated authority. We do not invent expert quotes, fake credentials or statistics without a source.

How a page is made

1. Selection. We publish a page when there is a real, recurring question behind it.
2. Research. We work from primary sources — standards bodies, regulators, official documentation and peer-reviewed literature — in preference to secondary write-ups.
3. Drafting. Written in plain English, defining a term the first time it appears.
4. Verification. Formulas are implemented, then tested against worked examples with known answers. A tool that disagrees with the reference case does not ship.
5. Review. A second pass checks the claims, the maths and the disclaimers.
6. Maintenance. Pages carry a “last reviewed” date and are revisited when the underlying rules change.

Our position on automated tools

We use software for the things software is good at: implementing and unit-testing formulas, checking internal links, and catching inconsistencies. Editorial judgement — what to publish, what a number means, what caveat a reader needs — is made by people, and a human is accountable for every page. We do not mass-generate pages to inflate the size of the site. We would rather publish a hundred pages worth reading than a thousand that are not.

Advertising and independence

Advertising on this site is served programmatically by Google AdSense. We do not select the advertisers, we do not know in advance who will appear, and advertisers have no input into our content. No page is written, amended or withheld because of an advertiser. Ad placements are kept out of the reading flow in a way that does not imply editorial endorsement, and we never disguise an ad as content.

If we ever publish sponsored or affiliate content, it will be labelled unambiguously at the top of the page. At the time of writing we publish none.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to fix it. Email hello@moneyguidance.site with the page URL and what you believe is incorrect. We aim to acknowledge within three working days. Substantive corrections are made to the page and noted on it; typographical fixes are made silently.
