Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we deliberately do not collect, and the control you have over both.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Money Guidance (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit moneyguidance.site, why we collect it, who we share it with and what control you have over it. It applies to every page on this website. We wrote it in plain English on purpose: a policy you cannot understand protects nobody.
The short version
- We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell personal information.
- Everything you type into a calculator on this site is processed in your own browser. Those values are never transmitted to us or stored on our servers.
- We show advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies, and that is the main way third parties collect data here.
- If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, personalised advertising cookies are only set after you agree to them. You can change your mind at any time.
Who is responsible
Money Guidance operates this website and acts as the data controller for it. For any privacy question, data request or complaint, write to hello@moneyguidance.site and we will respond within 30 days.
Information we collect
Information you give us
The only way to send us personal information directly is the form on our contact page or an email. In that case we receive the name, email address and message you choose to provide. We use it to answer you and for nothing else. We keep correspondence for up to 24 months so we can follow up on unresolved issues, then delete it.
Information collected automatically
Like virtually every website, our hosting provider records standard server log data when a page is requested: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and browser and device type. This is used for security, abuse prevention and aggregate traffic measurement. Logs are retained for a short period by the host and are not used to build a profile of you.
Information we deliberately do not collect
Calculator inputs — your weight, salary, loan balance, dates, portfolio figures and everything else — are handled entirely by JavaScript running on your own device. No form on a calculator page submits data anywhere. You can confirm this yourself by opening your browser's network inspector while using any tool on the site.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. We use them in two ways:
| Type | Purpose | Consent needed |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Remembering your cookie choice so we stop asking. Stored locally on your device only. | No |
| Advertising | Set by Google and its advertising partners to serve, cap the frequency of, measure and (where permitted) personalise ads. | Yes, in the EEA/UK/CH |
Full detail, including how to clear cookies in each major browser, is in our Cookie Policy.
Advertising and Google AdSense
This site is free because it carries advertising. We use Google AdSense, publisher ID
ca-pub-3648126437220213.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or optout.networkadvertising.org.
- A list of the vendors Google may work with is published at Google's certified ad technology providers.
We implement Google Consent Mode v2. Before you make a choice, advertising and analytics storage are set to denied by default. If you reject non-essential cookies, we additionally instruct Google to serve non-personalised ads, which are based only on the content of the page and coarse location rather than on a profile of you.
How Google handles data when you use its partners' sites is described in Google's own policy. We do not receive the personal data Google processes and we cannot access or delete it on your behalf.
Legal basis for processing (UK/EU)
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on: consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for advertising cookies and personalisation; legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) for security logging and for keeping the site working correctly; and again legitimate interests for answering a message you chose to send us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out. To exercise any of these, email hello@moneyguidance.site. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
California residents. Under the CCPA/CPRA you may request disclosure of the categories of personal information collected and request deletion. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising in exchange for money. Advertising cookies set by Google may nonetheless constitute “sharing” under that law; use the reject option in our cookie banner and the Google opt-out links above to limit it.
Children
This website is intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our hosting and advertising providers operate globally, so data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Those providers rely on transfer mechanisms such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Security
The whole site is served over HTTPS with HSTS. Because we do not hold accounts, passwords, payment details or calculator inputs, the amount of personal data that could be exposed by a breach of our systems is minimal by design. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, however.
Links to other websites
We link to third-party sites where they are the best source. Once you follow such a link, this policy no longer applies, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we will update the date below and, where the change affects how we use cookies, ask for your consent again.
